BIC holds first-half 2026 business review conference
On July 24, 2026, in Hue City, BIDV Insurance Corporation (BIC) held its conference to review business performance for the first half of 2026.
Reporting on the first-half performance, Ms. Doan Thi Thu Huyen - Member of the Board of Directors and CEO of BIC - stated that gross written premium in the first six months reached nearly VND 2,700 billion, fulfilling approximately 45% of the full-year 2026 plan. Of this amount, direct insurance premium contributed nearly VND 2,600 billion (achieving roughly 45% of the annual target), while reinsurance assumed revenue exceeded VND 102 billion, representing a growth of over 30%.
To generate growth momentum across the entire system during H1 2026, alongside effectively leveraging the Bancassurance channel, BIC focused on accelerating premium from retail, online, brokerage, and FDI channels, achieving encouraging results. Several business lines saw impressive growth: engineering insurance surged by over 70% year-on-year, marine insurance grew by more than 24%, and personal insurance increased by nearly 20%. Additionally, during the first six months, BIC paid out more than VND 700 billion in claim settlements to corporate and individual policyholders, helping customers promptly recover from losses and quickly stabilize their business operations and daily lives.
Regarding operational efficiency, BIC continued to record profits from its insurance business. Overseas subsidiaries also performed well; notably, pre-tax profit for H1 2026 at CVI (BIC's subsidiary in Cambodia) grew by an impressive 45%, contributing positively to the overall performance of the entire system.
Delivering key instructions at the conference, Mr. Tran Hoai An, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BIC, requested the entire system to continue synchronously implementing solutions that drive growth while ensuring operational efficiency. BIC needs to further enhance its role within BIDV’s business ecosystem while aggressively expanding non-banking services. Furthermore, BIC must focus on digital transformation, expanding distribution channels in online environments, developing products and services on digital platforms, and leveraging technology and AI to enhance underwriting efficiency, risk management, and customer experience.
As part of the mid-year review series and to commemorate the 79th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2026), on July 25–26, 2026, BIC organized a "Return to the Roots" pilgrimage to historical landmarks in Quang Tri Province, including Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, Highway 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery, the Thach Han River, and the Ancient Citadel of Quang Tri. On this occasion, BIC presented 30 gift packages to families of meritorious services and provided meaningful gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers in Gio Linh District, Quang Tri Province. This annual activity serves to educate staff on the traditional moral principle of "When drinking water, remember its source" and provides motivation for employees across the system to strive toward achieving their 2026 targets.
